Friday on the Farm!
March 19, 2010
Our Farm Tour is all about education (and fun!) – Come out for a great day with Farmer John Milton, our expert gardener on Superstition Farm! He will be doing garden tours and showing the kids how to garden in our Arizona desert. Everlasting Marks will also be there demonstrating environmental awareness. This will be a very educational and hands-on day!
When is it?
Friday, March 19th, 2010. Come out for the educational farm tour at either 10am or 12:30pm for the course.
What is it?
The kids will join us for an educational (and fun!!) day on the farm! Along with the Agritainment tour where your youngsters will learn where milk comes from, what kind of tools do we use on the farm, what do cows eat, what do we do for cow comfort, the medicines we use, and much more. How much more? Well, how 'about a tractor pulled hay ride to see our working 1,000 cow dairy? or hand feeding our donkey, goats, horses; or petting bunnies or holding a real chicken?! Plus this year Farmer John will be holding a garden clinic showing the kids garden care, maintenance, and how to garden in the Arizona desert.
We've got great speakers and presentations geared for your homeschool child. This is all in addition to our great farm tour, hay ride, petting zoo, haymaze and fun we provide. As an added bonus we will open up our Milk Bar, FREE for everyone!
Who can come?
Anyone and Everyone!
Why are you doing it?
Our farm tour has always been a favorite for homeschool families. We wish to expand the learning opportunities here on the farm to better educate the public about farming on a variety of levels. There are many Agriculture groups with great programs who visit public schools, however homeschoolers are often left out. We will bring these opportunities to the farm for everyone to enjoy.
How does it work?
Come out to the farm at 10am or 12:30pm and enjoy the farm with the family. The animals, hay maze and Farm Store will be open all day long - till 4pm.
There will also be hands-on displays of some tools we use on the farm along with feeds and other interesting items to explore.
Parents can join the children or leave their well-behaved children in our tour barn during the lesson. This is an opportunity for parents to network in our picnic area, meditate alone, or get lost in our haymaze! (But stay close parents! if we cant find you the resident farm baby sitter for unruly kids is an ornery bull!)
10:00am (geared towards the younger inquisitive students) 12:30pm (geared towards the older engaged students)
Bring a lunch...we have plenty of picnic areas!
What does it cost?
Individual families can enjoy the presentations and the free milk bar for normal tour admission pricing. Large Home School groups (20 or more) and associations can contact the farm in advance to arrange a school discount. It's a bargain at any price! Seating is limited – reserve a seat for your child today!
